Join us for a special two-part lecture into the art of photography.
Many people in Prescott love the art and science of photography, but unfortunately circumstances, either economically or physically, prevent them from going to exotic locals to engage in that exciting hobby. On Saturday April 20, Joe Webster will present a combined program on finding interesting subjects in and around your backyard and birding locations in the Prescott area.
In his presentation “Backyard Safari” Mr. Webster will show the photographer where to find attention-grabbing objects to shoot. He will discuss preparations necessary before going into the field, such as what types of environments are suitable for certain subjects. Whether the photographer shoots with a cell phone or professional gear he/she will be interested in the types of equipment available to help the photographer get images that are “keepers”. Webster will provide several techniques and sample images to help the shutterbug become a successful macro photographer.
Our avian friends are found in every part of our planet, from the Arctic to the tropics.
They range in size from the giant condors to the minute hummingbirds, from seed eaters to raptors. In his presentation “Birds, Birds, Birds, Ornithology Anyone” Joe Webster will examine the world of bird photography. He will offer some tips for composition and techniques for getting that “publishable” image. If you need assistance in selecting the proper equipment, he will look at that as well. Joe will discuss how to attract birds, where to find them in their habitat, and provide some great birding spots in the Prescott area and elsewhere in Arizona. The ethics of wildlife photography is one topic that is frequently overlooked. Mr. Webster will explore that as well.
As a follow-up to his April 20th, program, Joe Webster will lead an expedition to Prescott’s lakes on Monday April 22nd 7:00 AM – 12:00 P.M. to photograph some of the area’s birds, both resident and migratory species, such as egrets, herons, geese, eagles, and a variety of ducks.
