Shaping Arizona: The Gadsden Purchase
Today we’re diving into history with the Gadsden Purchase!
On June 8, 1854, the United States acquired land from Mexico that helped shape southern Arizona and New Mexico—and made way for a more efficient transcontinental railroad.
After learning about this important moment in history, we’ll get hands-on by creating our own Arizona maps using salt clay and highlighting the land gained through the purchase. A perfect mix of history and creativity!
