Join Prescott artist Steve Atkinson for his popular sketchbook workshop at the Phippen Museum. In this workshop, he shares his unique way of sketching to help you quickly make progress in improving your skills. There simply is no better way to be the best artist you can be, than to make sketching a daily habit. But, we all know that if drawing isn’t fun, we aren’t going to make the time to do it. A sketchbook is the key to unleash your potential and grow as an artist. All you need is a sketchbook, a pencil or three, an eraser, and the desire to create (and we all have that in spades, right?). Steve will start each session with a short instruction on what we’ll be doing that day, and then a demo on how he practices, what he draws, and what will keep you motivated, because we all know if you aren’t having fun, you won’t stick with it, right? Then it’s your turn with plenty of one-on-one instruction. A short Q and A will end each day so you can ask any questions that come up that day. All skill levels are welcome and encouraged to attend. Steve’s teaching skill will meet you where you’re at and give you the tools you need to be your best. See you there and Draw On!
Supply List:
If you have a sketchbook that you are comfortable with, by all means, use that. If you aren’t sure, don’t have one that you aren’t committed to, or would like a recommendation for a sketchbook that Steve uses, here are some suggestions. Any ONE of these are excellent for sketching. He prefers smooth bristol type paper and avoids spiral-bound sketchbooks like the plague.

- Leuchtturm1917 – Medium A5 Hardcover Sketchbook (Amazon)

Don’t worry if you haven’t any, Steve will set you up on his Pinterest page with plenty of things to draw (the internet can be a marvelous resource).
