150 Years of Arizona Photography

January 3

with Jim Turner

Step into the story of the West through the lens of time at the Phippen Museum’s special program, 150 Years of Arizona Photography. This engaging talk invites guests to explore how photography has captured Arizona’s rugged beauty, working ranches, wildlife, and expansive landscapes for more than a century and a half.

The program complements our CLICK: Light Up the West exhibition (on view through January 11), which showcases powerful contemporary images alongside imaginative, non-representational works inspired by the West. Visitors can also enjoy a companion “mini” exhibit featuring vintage cameras and photographic ephemera, offering a fascinating look at how the tools of photography have evolved over time.

Whether you’re a photography enthusiast, a history lover, or simply curious about the West, this program offers a deeper appreciation for the artistry and innovation behind these unforgettable images. (Weather permitting.)
