Shelly Hackett is a full time artist based in Fountain Hills\, AZ. She currently teaches at the Sonoran Art League and the Sedona Art Center. Shelly is known for her expressive\, atmospheric style and vivid gestural brushwork. Her work captures the essence of her subject- often horses and western themes . Shellyā€™s classes focus not just on technique \, but on helping students infuse their work with life\, mood and authenticity. Her work has been featured in Western Art Collector magazine and exhibited in galleries across the U.S. \nDay One: Sketching Horses (Graphite Pencil)Participants will begin by drawing a horse using a provided pattern\, then explore the skeletal structure and muscular forms that create movement and balance. Through guided studies\, students will examine key anatomical connections including the head and neck\, facial structure\, legs\, hooves\, shoulders\, and haunchesā€”building a strong foundation for painting. \nDay Two: Oil Painting Horses (Oil on Canvas Board)Students will bring their horse to life in paint\, beginning with background and underpainting techniques.
