LOCAL ARTISTS WIN AT AZ PASTEL ARTIST ASSOCIATION EXHIBITION
Paintings by eleven local artists are among 80 pastel works on display at the 9th International Exhibition and Sale of the Arizona Pastel Artists Association at the Phippen Museum in Prescott.
Three artists from Sedona were among the show’s award winners. Burros Sharing Secrets by Nori Thorne won Best Animal/Wildlife. Late Summer Hike by Sedona artist Pamela DeLay won Art of the West Award of Excellence. Sacred Datura by Nita Duechie won Best Floral.
Other local artists participating in the exhibition include: Prescott artists Jeanne Wellins Christine Bidwell, Lyn DeLano, Alison Crary, Dorothy Dooley, and Linda Vieser; Clarkdale artists include Joanne Agostinelli and Christine Debrosky.
The exhibition is an inspiring showcase of pastel’s vibrant color in a variety of subject matter. It includes southwestern artists, plus many from across the United States, Europe and Asia. Collectors and enthusiasts will find unique concepts amidst a selection of figurative, landscape, still life and abstract works.

Arizona Pastel Artists Association’s
9th International Exhibition & Sale at the Phippen Museum
February 22nd-April 20th, 2025
The Phippen Museum in Prescott, Arizona, is extremely proud to once again host the Arizona Pastel Artists Association’s 9th Annual International Pastel Exhibition & Sale from February 22nd through April 20th, 2025. This juried event will also feature a special award ceremony and an artist reception on March 1st from 10AM to 3:30PM.
The Arizona Pastel Artists Association (APAA) is an international group of pastelists that includes participants from across the United States, Canada, Europe, and Asia. Their mission is to inspire and promote its members through demonstrations, workshops, informal competitions, juried shows and plein air events that are open to the public. Artists participate in person or through online venues, exploring the vibrant colors of pastels’ pure pigments in a wide variety of styles and creative expressions. Members include nationally recognized artists, emerging artists, hobbyists and beginners.
And visitors to this all-pastel exhibition at the Phippen will be treated to a wide variety of outstanding fine art that explores the vivid colors of pastels’ pure pigments in a wide range of expression: from the stunning landscape of Lorenzo Chavez’s The Long View to Nori Thorne’s playful composition, Burros Sharing Secrets.
Prescott area artists will also be showcased in the exhibition of more than 70 pastel masterworks and include the pastel artistry of Signature Members Jeanne Wellins and Dorothy Dooley, as well as offerings by Northern Arizona painters, including Sedona artist, Pamela Delay, and Distinguished Member, Christine Debrosky, from Clarkdale.
This colorful exhibition will be available for viewing beginning on February 22nd and a show catalog will be accessible on the museum’s website, phippenartmuseum.org.
