Native Myths and Legends
November 17 thru February 10, 2007
This juried exhibition is an examination of Native American culture and religion through their
art and artifacts created by artists from various tribes. Chief Joseph by Sculptor Doug Hyde will
be on site at the Phippen Museum through the duration of this show. This 10-1/2 foot high bronze
statue is installed at the Smithsonian's National Museum of the American Indian in Washington,
D.C. The juried work will be accompanied by pieces from the Phippen Permanent Collection and
private collectors with subject matter that celebrates the beauty and dignity of Native American
cultures.
