American Academy of Women Artists: Celebrating 11 Years of Creative Excellence

November 8 through December 28, 2003

The American Academy of Women Artists is one of the nation's premiere art organizations, organized to promote and educate women in the arts. Celebrating Eleven Years of Creative Excellence will feature the work of 20 top figurative, western, plein air, still life, landscape, wildlife and contemporary two and three-dimensional artists who live and work in the United States and Canada.

Fans of the Phippen Museum Memorial Day Fine Art Show and Sale will recognize well-known western artist Susan Guy, Bonnie Conrad and wildlife sculptor Kim Shaklee. Other Signature members of AAWA include: Beverly Carrick, Louise DeMore, J.R. Eason, Catherine Klemann Ferrell, B. R. Gates, Catherine Gill, Nancy Howe, Maxine Johnston, Linda Loeschen, Elizabeth MacQueen, M. Kathryn Massey, Connie L. Morse, Anne Marie Oborn, Sheila Rieman, Jane Shuss, Kathryn Stats and Sherry Blanchard Stuart. The Academy has as its goal łto promote and educate women in the arts˛ and will present the Red Rock Workshop at the Sedona Arts Center on November 14, 15 and 16. The Workshop will be instructed by nationally known Academy Signature Artists Catherine Gill (plein air watercolor painting), Maxine Johnston (indoor still lifes and florals in oil) and Kathryn Stats (plein air oil painting).
