Herb Mignery, Eye of the Storm, bronze, 8Hx7Wx6.5D, $2,500

Herb Mignery

Raised on the Mignery ranch near Bartlett, Nebraska, he is from a family who have ranched for over 100 years. It was assumed he would be a cowboy, but his love of art led him to illustration, both in the army and later in commercial art. In 1973, he cast his first bronze and from that time devoted himself to sculpture. He is a member of the Cowboy Artists of America.

The subject of Herb Mignery's work is western Americana in which he incorporates the common people of the American west, animal subjects and religious themes. Mignery's bronzes range from table top pieces to larger than life size monuments. He created the Pioneer Award statuette for the Academy of Country Music and a life size bust of President Gerald Ford for a performing arts center in Vail, Colorado.

Mignery is a cartoonist whose work has appeared regularly in Western Horseman since 1985.

He was elected into the National Sculpture Society in 1996. He served as President of the Cowboy Artist of America in 1992-1993 and he is a founding member of Cowboy Cartoonists International.
