Mike Stuart was born in Winniewood, Oklahoma, and came with his parents to homestead land near Hereford, Arizona on the Mexican border in 1904. He began to rodeo full time in the mid 1920's. ln 1928 and 1929, he was named Champion Bronco Rider of the World at the Prescott Frontier Days Rodeo, as Prescott at that time proclaimed its rodeo the "world championship:' He is still the only person to win the saddle bronc championship two years in a row. Mike is recognized at the Pro Rodeo Hall of Champions Museum in Colorado Springs, Colorado and is listed
as an honoree in the Rodeo Division of the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City. He was a top hand in both roping and riding events, and left his mark on every major rodeo from Canada to Mexico. After his rodeo career, he served as arena director of the Prescott Rodeo for 12 years and made his home on his ranch near Kirkland, Arizona.
